what is voki and what is it used for?

Voki is an educational tool for teachers and students, which can be used to enhance instruction, engagement, and lesson comprehension. It can be used in class (for student work), as an animated presentation tool, for student assignments, and as a virtual supervised discussion. Voki is a free service that lets you create a talking avatar to help students share their learning. The other excellent feature is that it can then be embedded onto a blog or Wikispace like this: Voki gives you as a teacher the opportunity to engage students in any topic area through a simple to use and free resource available anytime and anywhere for almost any purpose. It provides you with:

• Getting students to share their learning
• Getting feedback from students
• Getting students to add a more human feel to their blog or wiki
• Foreign language speakers to express views and opinions easier
• Engaging and hooking students into a subject or topic
• Interacting with students on a global level (e.g. quad blogging)

1) after you sign up for voki, you can create your own voki.

2) you can totally change the appearance of your voki.

3) you can click on "play" button and voice your voki. you can make your avatar say what you want it to say. also, you can set the tone and change language options. whatsmore, you can  record your voice or add voice from your own computer.
